I arrived at a party to the sound of someone playing “Wagon Wheel” on acoustic guitar. I liked that song, so I introduced myself and started a conversation that I never wanted to end.
“What kind of music do you listen to?” He asks.
At the time, I was beginning to listen to traditional bluegrass music recommended to me by an old friend, so my knowledge was limited.
“Mostly alternative,” I hesitate for a moment, “but I am just starting to get into bluegrass.”
His eyes lighten and his pupils dilate. This fascinated me.
“Bluegrass is my favorite,” he tells me before sipping his drink. I look down at the glass in his hand and respond, “Whiskey is my favorite.”
